I was born on the North Side of Chicago during the biggest snow storm in Chicago history. I think my first toy was a set of jumper cables. Living in the city was great as a little kid. We moved out to Elk Grove Village where I went to Junior High and High School. I started out playing the violin in 4th grade. Going into Junior High with wiry hair, braces and pimples while playing the violin was quite a package. I switched to bass in 6th grade and have been playing ever since. I was selected to the Top All-State Jazz band 2 years in a row in High School. I attended Western Michigan University where I majored in Music Performance and Communications.
In addition to being the president and bandleader of DRM, I’m an accomplished bassist. I toured internationally with both The Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey Orchestras. I spent 3 summer seasons working as the bass player at the Grand Hotel on Mackinaw Island. I have performed at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
After touring, I started playing bass with some of the top wedding bands in Chicago. I got tired of playing the same songs over and over again. The bandleaders tried to make the weddings all the same. I felt brides and grooms deserved something that was special and designed around them! That’s why I decided to start David Rothstein Music. Even though I’m an experienced bassist, for the weddings our band plays, we provide you with a separate bass player. This allows me to act exclusively as your emcee. I’ll make all the announcements and introductions as well as be available to help you and your vendors throughout the night.
I live on the north side of Chicago and enjoy photography, working out, traveling, movies and collecting sports memorabilia. My very friendly dog, Goldie, would love to meet you too!
Most of all I want to hear from you. Hear your story and how my band and I can help make your wedding or event fantastic. I look forward to speaking with you soon!
